ADS: Watch One Piece
History
The wonderful history of gumgum.org
For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, GumGum.org is a domain based on the the anime One Piece by Eichiro Oda. Mostly, GumGum strives to be a multimedia site but we try to balance out a little bit of everything. The domain itself was not paid by us but by the wonderful owners of PickMe.net, where one of our webmasters (Hana) won the domain layout contest in 2nd place. Since the site was to be a domain with lots of content the bigger bandwidth images such as the scans and animated gifs were moved to our bigger server at The-OrO.com, a site based on Rurouni Kenshin. Both GumGum.org and the-oro are sort of sister/network sites as the scheme is the same. The-OrO of course, is 1 year older than GumGum.org, and far more expanded. The site was won on Nov 12,2003 and registered a week later. The layout was up on Dec 10, 2003. The site kept on expanding until you see it as it’s now. As for the One Piece community, there are not many fansites left for One Piece, and hence we strive to keep this one for at least those who need it.
The Evolution
GumGum is a group effort, not only between the administrators here, but also between all the users who visit. We strive to include all the fans, and never ignore any suggestions, comments or corrections. For this reason, gumgum grew substantially, and we got much more help. Our main co-admins, Marie and Silverwind joined the network in 2006, and handle and expanded this site in many ways Hana and Shaza could not. All in all, many fansites are owned by one or two people, but gumgum is as much their as it is Shaza’s, as much yours as it is ours _. We always appreciate input! and whatever gumgum is now is because of those special people who helped.
