Mihawk is one of the best characters in One Piece, but not much known is about him. He is hailed as the greatest swordsman in the world, and randomly appears in certain places. He is first seen in Chapter 49, as he comes to the Baratie Resturant where he destroys Don Kriegs ship. When asked 'why?" he says "I was bored." *don't you love him already* Supposedly, he had destroyed Don Krieg's entire fleet on the Grand Line (50 ships) with one swipe. He has one big black (evil) sword, and a small dagger which he keeps hidden in his cross. Mihawk himself, has a very interesting philosophy. Zoro, in particular, regards him as a rival and role model, as he knows he can only be the greatest swordman if he beats him. The funny thing is, Mihawk beats Zoro when he first meets him, but he acknowledges his courage and pride, which makes him take a liking to him and Luffy. Friendship wise, it seems that Mihawk is on close terms with Shanks, who meets in the manga (when he shows him Luffy's first bounty). But even when the Seven Sea Knights meet after Crocodile, Mihawk walks in, since he is interested in Luffy, Zoro and his crew. All of this of course, shows how powerful Mihawk his. Not only physically, but to be able to walk in on government meetings (since the 7 Sea Knights have linkages to them) without question shows how he demands respect from everyone around him. Mihawk may seem a bit serious, but he just has a attitude, but if you look close enough you can see a smile here and there :D...   Mihawk to me, is a representation of honor and pride in One Piece. While Shanks is the ultimate role model for a pirate, Mihawk is the role model for a swordsman and skilled warrior. He is not afraid to use his power, or mock people, but does at some times, acknowledge and respect strength when he sees it (as with Zoro). Mihawk himself, is more of a lone rogue, he does not need help from anyone but fends for himself. Where he goes and what he does should not concern anyone, unless of course, he approves of it. I think he is the ultimate symbol for Zoro as a role model of strength. He doesn't deny his power, which makes him very different from many of the other anime/manga characters out there, since he is very blunt and straight forward. I just love Mihawk D:
