Hypothesis
Basically the purpose of this layout to switch over to a new design and finally revamp gumgum so it might be easier to update: which is, in other words, through php. So hence, we chose a simple image to pick from and I really think One Piece is such a bright manga, so I needed an equally bright layout and image!
Time
This layout took a total of 12 hours of editing and playing around.
Materials
Adobe Photoshop CS2, One Piece manga images from ColorWalk II, taken from Null With One Piece, Fonts= Mandingo, Ironman, FashionVictim, Orange Fizz, Porky’s and Verdana for CSS
Procedure
This layout was a bit more complicated. Because One Piece is one of those series where only certain colors and things would work with the images— and Oda is one not to make the images any normal colors :P. Only bright bright colors work with One Piece… Also the images are so odd, to make a decent layout is really hard- esp. with my kind of style and colors. So, I saw that flying birds image, one that not many people had used, and decided to myself, “I have to use it” so, it went on that way. I pain-stakingly extracted the image, fixed the colored parts, and then added the flag with different fonts to say GumGum. I really liked the flag actually, it seeemed very much part of the image. I then used several gradients and random drawings to add to everything. The result, I think turned out really odd but it was okay. Hana told me to attach the layout to image, so I made the birds hold up the layout with hooks and strings (though the main one ddin’t really make sense.) In actuality I wanted to make the main content section just solid blue, but Hana said it looked to plain, so that didn’t really work out lol. Afterwards, I just added simple grass on the bottom _.
