Version 1: A Normal Day

Layout Archives >> Version 1: A Normal Day

Hypothesis
Basically we wanted a layout that was different. Since so many of the good color walk images are constantly used it was hard to think of something original. So we decided we would do a layout with a theme of a manga page and a small self created scene from One Piece.

Time
This layout took a total of 8 hours of editing and playing around.

Materials
Adobe Photoshop 7.0, One Piece manga images from ColorWalk II, taken from Going Meri With One Piece, Ironman + Grinched + verdana + Impact + JumboTango fonts.

Procedure
First, we took the ColorWalk II scans of all the characters and made them transparent and resized them to an appropriate height. After doing so we opened a new canvas where we choose a light shade of green and used the shape tools in Adobe Photoshop for drawings the lines and boxes properly. This took about 30 minutes time. After doing so we made the characters even smaller (as the boxes were pretty small) so that we could fit them in with perfect proportions. We pasted them accordingly in the boxes. Afterwards we started doing the hard part. We used brushes, smudging tools, filters, blurs and everything to create a nice landscape. We then took the Chopper picture and cut out cherry blossoms to paste through the manga boxes to add a bit of color. This took about 5 hours to draw and edit. For editing we used image effects and self created patterns to make a more natural look. Next, we edited the fonts and added GumGUm.org. We cut out the hat from a Luffy picture. The same picture with Chopper and his cherry blossoms. Completing this we added finishing touches on the image effects and made text for the sound effects and talk bubble. These were in Impact and Manga Temple Font. We added the links on the top. This took about 1.5 hours. Last but not least we sliced the image and made the CSS file. This took about 1 hour. Then we made the info etc. which took too long even to mention _.
