Glossary
Some terms that will come in handy
A little confused about some One Piece terms or need to learn a little Japanese? Here is a quick glossary :D.
A-G
- Baroque Works – Crocodile’s secret society/followers.
- Chan – Suffix meaning “little”, “cute”, “small”. A loving term.
- Devil Fruit – Special fruits with different powers which, if eaten, allow the being to gain those powers. Note: They can’t swim.
- Dials – Special things made out of shells that store energy and have different powers. Eg. A tone dial records voice, wind dial creates wind, etc.
- Going Merry – The Name of Luffy’s Ship.
H-K
- Kaizoku – Pirate, if “ou” is added at the end, it means Pirate King.
- Kun – Suffix used meaning gentleman. A polite term when talking to a male.
L-R
- Mizu – Water
- Mugiwara – Straw Hat
- Nakama – Partner
- Niku – Meat (Said often by Luffy)
- One Piece – The famous treasure of Gold D. Roger.
S-Z
- Sama – Suffix used towards a leader or someone respectable.
- Seven Sea Knights – The top seven most dangerous people of the sea (simply speaking).
- Thousand Sunny – The name of the second Mugiwara Ship built by Franky.
