Sanji the Cook! Demonstration of his real value in the Marine’s cafeteria!

Episode Guide >> Episode 197

As the Marine’s are discussing all the rumors surrounding the mystery of the Going Merry, Sanji and Luffy are observing the situation from the ceiling’s ventilation duct – that is, Sanji is observing and Luffy is asleep! As the sun rises over G8, the position the Mugiwara crew has found themselves in seems quite bleak!

The Stanberry, a battle ship from Marine Headquarters requests permission to dock in the fortress because they are severely injured. While his subordinates wish to turn the boat away, Commander Jonathan immediately sends out an aid team and opens the gates to allow them entry. As everyone is rushing around to prepare for their arrival, Zoro nonchalantly walks around in the open – lost, as usual.

Nami, being a thief, is more careful about her investigation of the fortress and is worried by how big it is. When she opens a door to the outside of the base, she soon learns three things: (1) G8 is larger than they first believed, (2) the fortress is not a lake and (3) Going Merry is no longer in its original position. It has been towed to Dock 88 and put under strict surveillance. With a renewed sense of hope for escape, Nami decides to find the others quickly and search for Going Merry. Just as she’s thinking up a plan, two Marine chefs that arrived with the injured warship stumble upon her while looking for the kitchen. Thinking quick, Nami pretends to be a soldier, stationed at G8 for 5 years and leads them around the base!

After ditching the cooks, she disguises herself as a custodian, and happens to stumble upon Major Drake’s briefing of his troops. They’re capturing the Mugiwara’s in secret and their first target is Zoro!

Just as they’re leaving, the swordsman himself walks around the corner, and Nami frantically pushes him out onto a balcony to keep from being caught. Declaring he has no sense of direction and that fighting won’t get them anywhere, Nami tosses his katana into a nearby bush and tells him to stay put while she gathers the others.

Not far off, Luffy and Sanji come across the kitchen, which spells trouble for the duo. With his Captain drooling over the smell of meat, Sanji finds some uniforms to disguise themselves, and Luffy rushes through the doors of the cafeteria. (Un?)Luckily for them, they are mistaken for the Mari Brothers – the two cooks that Nami lead astray! Faced with an angry mob, lecturing them about wasting food, Sanji becomes intrigued. And Jessica – the head chef – gives them a challenge: Create a meal for 100 Marines or never bear the name of Cook!

Sanji steps up, full of confidence and uses the leftovers from the other cooks to make his meals. The soldiers storm in and completely devour what he’s made. It’s clear that Sanji is the winner! Luffy finishes off the other 100 meals and the two set off with no regrets. They have new Nakama!

Meanwhile, Commander Jonathan is out on his own, searching for the crew and spots Zoro struggling to retrieve his katana. When they start to fall, Zoro lunges in after them, only to nearly drown! As he surfaces, he is surrounded on all sides by several Marines with guns – and none other than Commander Jonathan, who has just made his first catch.
