Dub Comparison
Differences between the real anime and the dubbed
Here are some things that I noticed cut and edited in the Fox Box edits. In general, blood, and extreme violence is cut, so it’s not really necessary to mention that. After Episode 1 we forgot to keep track, so hence in Other Episode Tidbits we just listed random things that are a bit important. Thank you Jeremy for adding things to this _.
Episode 1
Opening song was changed to a rap type thing with “gotta go” as like a chorus instead of “One Piece.
- Music was changed, IE. they play Love Music when Nami sees Luffy
- Zoro= Zolo
- Wine = Water
- Some small cuts, like after Luffy gets out of the barrel they change cut the small little funny scenes with Luffy and Alvida’s crew.
- Some different translations, for example, Luffy says “Did you have your eyes checked” about Alvida, instead of saying “That ugly fat lady? (somewhere around those lines)
Other Episode Tidbits
- Gold D. Roger wasn’t hung, he was stabbed
- Bellmere was showed as being ‘jailed’ instead of killed by Arlong
- Nami doesn’t stab herself on the tattoo with a knife.
- The Apis saga was totally cut off (the dragons and things)
- They never meet the whale, Laboon
- They skipped the Little Island Arc.
- They didn’t show the part in the drum island arc where dr. krehura blew himself up.
